New Student Representation

A significant step was made in the development of student representation at the University of Leicester Students’ Union. A Proposal was passed that dissolved Student Council in its current state in favour of creating one that was based on proportional representation

This is one of the biggest steps taken in the Union’s history to try and make the Union more relevant to all our students. The idea is that each course will elect a representative to a new Student Parliament that will represent their views, weather that is regarding their academic studies or an issue to do with societies or campaigns. Hopefully, this will make the Union much more personal to you as students rather than the current quite abstract system that is currently in place.

The functionality of the new Student Parliament has yet to be formed and we are looking for as much student input as possible into this scheme. There is going to be a forum held on Friday 26th February at 3pm in ATT SB2.10, so if you have an opinion on the matter come along and speak up!
