About Karate

Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art that is suitable for anyone regardless of age height and weight, and develops both body and mind.

Regular training will increase co-ordination, strength and flexibility, while Zen meditation will improve mental focus and self-control.

Our chief instructor is Sensei Rick Jackson (8th Dan), who is one of the highest ranking Europeans in the world. With our highly experienced instructors, the quality of teaching at Leicester University Karate Club is truly world class.

We have a close knit social side which enables you to make some great friends. Social events are frequent and varied, and are a great way to meet people and get more involved with the club.

We welcome new members and your first lesson is free of charge. For more information, email Lucy, club captain at su-karate@le.ac.uk or join us on facebook “Leicester University Karate Club”
