Vacancy 1

Advice Service Receptionist

Salary: £11.44 an hour plus holiday pay

Contract: Part Time (Up to 20 hours a week during term time with hours to take place between 11.00am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday when Reception is open)

Reports to: Advice and Support Manager

We are looking for a friendly and approachable individual/s with outstanding customer service skills, an ability to interact with a wide range of audiences and excellent administration skills. You will join our Advice Team who provides an independent academic, accommodation, employment and signposting advice to students at the University of Leicester, to find out more about what we do click here.  Your role will be to:

  • Act as an ambassador and first point of contact for visitors to the Students’ Union Advice Service, this could be via phone, in person or email.
  • To build the relevant knowledge to be able to provide advice and guidance to students including providing an initial triage/signposting to students ensuring an excellent standard of customer service
  • To provide administrative support for the Students’ Union Advice Service including for Therapy Dog clinic and C-Card Schemes.
  • To provide event support such as Freshers Fair and Housing Fair as and when needed by the Advice Service throughout the Academic Year

Vacancy 2

Lead Mentors

Salary: £11.44 an hour plus holiday pay

Contract: Part Time (This is an opportunity where Ad Hoc hours will be available, rather than a set number of hours per week. It is expected that the role will encompass up to 30 hours during the academic year)

Reports to:  Support and Representation Manager

The Peer Mentoring Team are recruiting Lead Mentors for the 2024/25 academic year. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for you to develop your leadership, interpersonal and support skills whilst making a difference to the lives of your fellow students.

As a Lead Mentor you will be expected to:

  • To work directly with their school in order to provide tailored information, presentations and guides relevant to their student community
  • To support the Peer Mentors and Mentees within their school including the delivery of Meet your Mentor events.
  • To proactively work with the Peer Mentoring and their School Staff Team to ensure the successful recruitment of Reps.
  • To promote the Peer Mentoring Scheme to students across the University.
  • Assist in administration duties required to successfully deliver the scheme.

You will need to be passionate about the Scheme and have a willingness to proactively engage with other students

Vacancy 3

Student Voice/Academic Representation Project Worker

Salary: £11.44 an hour plus holiday pay

Contract: Part Time (up to 12 hours a week during term time) 

Reports to:  Support and Representation Manager

We are looking for a Student Voice/Academic Representation Project Worker to ensure the effective operation of the Union’s democratic activities, you will:-

  • To provide support to the Academic Representation Team to help empower our College, School and Course Representatives
  • Support the operation of the Students’ Union Democratic Structures including helping to implement the outcomes from the Governance Review whilst helping the Full Time and Part Time Officers in the projects they are working on.
  • Provide general support for event planning to include campaigns such as Idea’s System, Student Leaders Conference and Student Voice Awards.
  • Support Union elections, including the Executive Officer elections.
  • Help with promotion of Student Voice and Academic Representation Activity actively engaging and promoting our work amongst the student community at events including Fresher’s Week.
  • Coordinate the reward and recognition of representatives to encourage them to remain in the role and take up further leadership positions
  • Support the delivery of Superstar Award Scheme.
  • To provide a Reception service to students and visitors entering the Students’ Union Office

 

The successful candidate will need to have excellent administrative and organisational skills, high levels of attention to detail and accuracy along with good customer service and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
