The University of Leicester Economics Society sponsored by Accenture will be holding the society elections at this year’s AGM on Tuesday the 16th of March, so if you fancy running for a position for next year's committee you will need to attend!

When: 16th March 2010 6pm
Where: LE LT3

The positions are:

President:
Chairs all Society Meetings
Prepares agendas for meetings
Holds the casting vote at committee meetings
Liaises with the relevant personal in the Students Union and Economics Department
Primary responsible for organising events for the society
Seek to promote the society and secure sponsorship

Along with this, the President is as one of the cheque signatories and acts as the returning officer for elections. He/ she needs to effectively delegate tasks amongst committee meetings, giving direction, motivation and support to fellow committee personal.

Employer Liaison:
Acts as second in command, filling in and assisting for the Presidents duties as and when necessary
Contact relevant companies, getting their support and participation for society events, with the possibility of acquiring sponsorship from them too.
Promote career awareness for the society in conjunction with the Department and Careers Service
Look at the possibility of running academic related trips

Treasurer:
Responsible for society funds, looking to secure sponsorship and acquire the maximum amount of funds from the SU grant system
Keeping accounts for the society and providing an audit at the end of the year
Pricing and budgeting of events
Cheque signatory

Secretary:
Keeps minutes at all society meetings, ensuring they are distributed effectively amongst committee and society members.
Deals with all correspondence and administration for the society
Responsible for keeping and maintaining an up to date membership list
Assist the Publicity officer with society advertisement
Cheque signatory

Publicity Officer:
Publicise all events of the society in a suitable manner
Responsible for the purchase and sale of committee and society merchandise, and marketing of the society brand and logo
Responsible for the society section in the new SU website and social media pages
Liaises with the 1st and Postgraduate Reps
Assist with promotional material to new students

Social Secretary:
Organise social events, ensuring they are economically viable
Woking alongside the committee in assistance of tasks

Sports Representative:
Responsible for entering both male and female teams in intramural sporting events
Organise staff- student sporting event(s)
Create a welcoming and active social environment within the sports teams

If you interested in any of these positions then please email ljrm1@le.ac.uk, you will also need the name of a society member to propose you, although you can propose yourself. Then come along to the AGM and be prepared to give a short speech on why you're the best candidate for the position. We need a minimum of 15 people to attend the AGM in order to vote there and then.

NB. Only society members will be able to vote or run for a position, if you are not a member you will be able to join at the AGM.
