
What is a course rep?
A Course Rep is an elected educational representative who looks after the needs of students on their course. good rep will be someone that channels the issues and concerns of his or her peers into the Student-Staff Consultative meetings (SSCs) held by the Department.
Course Reps are elected at the beginning of each academic year and hold the position for the entirety of that year. They are absolutely crucial to the University because they are the vehicle for carrying feedback from students froward and the barometer by which the action of the Department are measured.
Responsibilities
• Attend training and top-up training
• Attend the Student-Staff Committee Meetings
• Attend ED Advisory Committee with the Students’ Union
• Get to know your peers on your course (using social media, email and face to face communication)
• Attend a lunch with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor
• Get involved in Education Campaigns
These are the main responsibilities but if you want to get even more involved you can. Just ask the Education Unit and we’ll
advise you how.

Existing reps
From April this page will include details of Student Union led course rep events such as lunch with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor and Ed advisory committees. You will be able to download copies of any documents given out at the events and see summaries of what was discussed. Until then this information can be found on our Course Rep Blog.
