Your Union – Meet the Sabbs

I’m Alex Nutt and I’m your Academic Affairs Officer for the year 2010/11. I am
essentially the principle contact between the Students’ Union and the University
providing you with the best representation. I also oversee the Education Unit within
the Students’ Union which is there to help you throughout your time at University,
offering free impartial advice regarding any issues that you have with your course.

I also look after the Course Reps with the rest of the Education Unit which play a
crucial role in ensuring you get the best teaching possible and academic experience.
This is a great way to give your feedback and raise concerns or views directly to your department. Elections to become a Course Rep take place in early October and they
provide a great opportunity to interact with your peers.

I am Owen Jones and it is my job to run all of the priority campaigns set by the Student Council and oversee the democratic aspects of the Union.

I am also repsonsible for making sure that what the Union doe is relevant to the needs of our students, and ensuring that every student has an equal opporunity to get involved, regardless if they are an undergraduate, mature student or distance learner.

Hi everyone! I’m Steph and I’m your Services Officer. What that means is that I oversee all the commercial stuff in the SU - e.g. the shop, nightclubs, safety bus and accommodation service.
If you use it and it’s in the SU, I’m involved in some way, shape or form!

The Sabbs are all here to represent what you as students want. So feel free to email, facebook, pop into the Sabb office, or just stop me if you see me wandering around. I’d love to hear your views and suggestions on how to make our services work better for you!

Hi I’m Tom Wilmot and I am your Student Activities Officer. My role is to look after all of the Union’s societies, sports teams, associations and media groups. I also organise the Come and Try events and make sure that we don’t leave anyone behind!

My time at uni was really made by the activities that I got involved with and I hope that all University of Leicester students, both freshers and returners, have all of the opportunities that they could wish for!
