Let's Talk About It
Support groups for climate action and eco-anxiety are coming to the Students' Union in 2024, see below for this terms timetable:
eco-anxiety
noun
extreme worry about current and future harm to the environment caused by human activity and climate change. she saw people in all age groups reporting eco-anxiety, though different ages can experience it in different ways
To help tackle the growing levels of eco-anxiety in young people, we have come together with the universities Sustainability Team to facilitate 'Let's talk about...' sessions. But what is this?
'A community-organised space for people to have open conversations about the climate crisis (including how it makes us feel). Every session´ is different: some might include unstructured discussions, while others could feature events and workshops. No two sessions look the same, yet they should all feel safe, open and accessible.' -
Force of Nature
Let's Talk About...Climate Action
Once a month we will be offering workshop style sessions open to all UOL students in order to discuss climate related activism, actions and opinions. It will be a space to workshop how you can improve your carbon
footprint and individual impact as well as to get advice on how to get more involved. These sessions are not ticketed so you can just turn up in your own time!
Let's Talk About...Eco-Anxiety
More and more young people are becoming anxious about the climate crisis and what this means for themselves and their future. Because of this, we will be offering monthly drop-in sessions for any UOL students to come and talk about how their feeling about the crisis and to get any thoughts and emotions out in a safe and supportive environment. It offers students a space to talk to their peers and discover that they are not so alone in their worries. The sessions will also be supported by mental health professionals.
(Please note that these sessions need to be booked prior. Click on the event in the upcoming sessions to book on.)
