In the third, and final, installment of the Rowing World Cups this year we saw Lauren Henry return to the GB W4x in Lucerne, Switzerland. Off the back of their recent victory at Henley Royal Regatta we were excited to watch the crew race again, hoping to improve on their previous silver medal at World Cup II.
After a tough battle with the Chinese quad, they had to settle for second place in the heats, missing out on the direct placement in the A Final. Winning the repechage by over a second eventually secured their spot in the all important A Final.
An incredible surge saw the GB quad place second overall, missing out on the gold to the Netherlands by a fraction of a second. With consistent placement on the podium at each world cup this season we're excited to start to look towards the World Championships in early September, with a view to gear up for Paris 2024!
