Traditional Chess is one of the world’s most-played board games. Goethe called it the touchstone of the human intellect. So it only seems right that there should be opportunities for students to play here at Leicester.
We’re a friendly and relaxed society made up of students and staff who love to play chess regularly. We aim to participate in the BUCA Championships and in the local leagues (LRCA, Leicestershire and Rutland Chess Association) if demands are high enough. You’re welcome to join us whatever your skill level. And if you don’t even know the rules, don’t worry: you can learn to play chess at any age.
With practice, you’ll find your concentration and memory are likely to improve!
