Fancy sleeping under the stars? Firing weapons on a live range? Having a go at an assault course? How about skydiving in California? Kayaking in the South of France? Skiing in Austria? Learning how to carry out a tactical mission in a mock village?
The East Midlands Officer Training Corps is the only society where you will be able to experience a range of military and adventurous training and be paid for it.
Leicester is one university out of eight that recruit students from across the East Midlands to undergo the same training as British Army Officers. Whether you have an interest in joing HM Armed Forces after University or not, there is no commitment, no deployment and you can attend as little or as much training as you like.
In addition to military training we also offer a range of other activities:
Free transport is provided to the training sessions which take part on Wednesday afternoons in Beeston, Nottingham. There are also challenging but rewarding weekend exercises which happen five times a year (attendance is encouraged but not all of it is compulsorary). There is also an optional annual camp which is two weeks of exciting military training, adventurous training, sport and social events.
We welcome male and female members of all shapes and sizes provided you are able to manage some physical exercise and are a member of the commonwealth. There will be a selection process but most people pass provided you have no serious health problems.
Challenge yourself, join a different kind of society!
