About Softball

 

Softball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of 10 players. It is a direct descendant of baseball although there are some key differences: softballs are larger than baseballs, and the pitches are thrown underhand rather than overhand. Softball is played on a smaller diamond than in baseball.

We are a Team Leicester club set up to provide students with the opportunity to learn, improve, and have fun whilst playing recreational and competitive Softball matches inter house and against other academic institutions. Find out more about Softball at our video below!

 

 

What we offer our members:

• Opportunity to be part of a Team Leicester club and give Softball a try before joining  

• Access to regular training sessions (Monday and Friday) 

• Coaching 

• 2 competitive teams (Play in the British Universities Sport Competitions & Leagues) 

• Intramural league (Mixed teams and recreationally focused) 

• Social events & activities

• Competitive teams training sessions, Monday & Friday 6-7pm (Roger Bettles, Oadby) 

• Match Days, Sundays (Home matches played at Stoughton Playing Fields, Oadby)

Joining Costs

If you wish to become a member of the Softball Club you will need to purchase both the following memberships. Sports Membership (Gold- £150, Silver- £125 or Team Leicester- £100) & Club Membership £40

Members will also have the option to purchase a range of Softball kit from our kit supplier, Viper 10.
