Want to start a new group but cannot find other interested students? Submit it as a suggestion here! With over 18,000 students at Leicester, there is a good chance you are not the only one interested in a topic no matter how niche you think it might be.

On this page you can submit an idea for a new group, or club, and then other students can engage with it. If your idea gets a lot of interest we can help you promote it to find other students who want to create it with you. Students can also comment to get involved, offer ideas, or other suggestions in order to make your idea a reality. Suggest something today or see if there are any groups below you would be interested in starting! Votes are anonymous so, if you want to be contacted or discuss the idea with students, leave a comment on the idea.

Has your idea got a lot of interest or do you want to be put in contact with someone about their idea? Comment on their post or email us at unionactivities@leicester.ac.uk for help with your next steps. You can also click here to start a new society or club, if you are ready to apply!

    (ADOPT/RESTART) Minecraft society

    Current
(Idea still active as of 20/11/24) As it says on the tin, this would be a society for all things Minecraft, and other sandbox video games given enough interest. Just like the previous Minecraft society, the core of the new society would be a 24/7 survival server, on either Java or Bedrock depending on which is more popular / accessible (Feel free to drop a comment below with your preferred version!). Besides the server, activities could include; (1)In-person meet ups to play together, whether it's on the server or not. We could hop on Hypixel, or play around with new snapshots. (2)Debates - From thoughts on various updates to planning out what the server needs. There's no shortage of topics... (3)Minecraft live / Minecraft movie watch parties (Free snacks included???).... (4)An extra server if funds allow - Creative, mini games... (5)With minigames, there could also be Contests. Who can complete the parkour the fastest, who can build the best thing, etc. (6)Workshops and tutorials. Maybe you struggle with building, or perhaps you want to make a dapper skin, but you don't know how? And who said it has to be limited to online? In workshops, we could bring our skins to life as costumes, or craft some cool Minecraft sculptures. (7)(Quite an ambitious idea here, but...) A group project to recreate the university. This could be a fun way of introducing people to the university, especially those who can't attend open-days. As a bonus, it can attract publicity online, such as when the Danish government recreated their entire country. Don't have access to Minecraft? No problem. We could play with split-screen. I am willing to look into bringing an Xbox One (Although we would need enough controllers. It goes without saying that this would only work for bedrock, too). New to Minecraft? No problem either. All skill levels are accepted. Same with time commitments, and play-styles. Minecraft is near enough limitless. There's no wrong way to experience Minecraft. So long as you have an interest, you're welcome here. If you have any suggestions or questions, please remember to leave a comment. Alternatively, you're welcome to email me at arr41@student.le.ac.uk Otherwise, if you want to see this society become a reality, then we still need 2 more people to fill the officer roles - And that could include you...
