LUSUMA is a student-led medical association which will aim to make your time at medical school more enjoyable. The committee members all medical students from various year groups that are in the same boat as you! With a wide variety of support from academic to welfare, as well as lots of socials throughout the year, there are many benefits of getting a LUSUMA membership! Academic Support - Get access to our password-protected academics page on the LUSUMA website with the membership. Here you will find resources to support your revision and access to Brainscape flashcards to get that active recall in! Various revision lectures will also be run by LUSUMA and various revision sub-societies such as Leicester Insight, MMF, LMSRS, Doc-2-Doc, and many more! You can also get a free premium membership with TeachMeAnatomy which has helped many students with their anatomy learning.
Sub-Societies and Sports - With around 50 different sub-societies and sports that you can join, there is bound to be something for you! You can join any number of sub-societies and sports throughout the year with our LUSUMA membership. Each with their own student committee under LUSUMA, the sub-societies and sports will arrange revision/training sessions and socials throughout the year. If you are feeling up to it, you can also apply for committee positions and really get involved!

Welfare Support - Medicine can be tough! At some points of the course it can become quite overwhelming and that is understandable. At LUSUMA we have our own Agony Aunt and a MH buddies scheme that students can access for support. If you have any concerns at all you are more than welcome to contact any member of the LUSUMA committee and they will direct you to the right services for further support. You do not have to suffer alone!
Socials and Balls - With a LUSUMA membership you can get discounted tickets to socials organised by us. Our socials range from bar crawls all the way to summer and winter balls that have been organised by our Social and Ball Secretaries. Our Medic Freshers can take part in INTROweek which is a jam-packed week for them to socialise and get settled in before starting the academic year: all you have to do is get the LUSUMA membership with INTROweek included.

Charity and Volunteering - LUSUMA run various events and fundraisers for various charities throughout the year. This year we have chosen two LUSUMA charities: You Okay Doc? and Project Light Leicester. New to this year is our LUSUMA Volunteering Hub, a place on our website where students who wants to volunteer can get started. It is a great way to develop some transferable skills while doing something you are passionate about.
