For our more skilled players, you can represent the University of Leicester in the Leicestershire & Rutland Chess Association (LRCA) weekly matches

Beginner Chess Lessons - Every Monday 7:15 - 8pm in Sir Bob Burgess Room 2.07
For those of you who are new to chess, our Beginner Chess Lessons are the perfect way for you to learn chess!
We will cover topics such as:
- Beginner Opening Techniques
- Basic Endgame Techniques
- How to use your pawns
- Introduction to Tactics
- Creating a plan in the Middlegame

Intermediate & Advanced Chess Workshops - Every Friday 7 - 8pm in Sir Bob Burgess Room 2.07
For those of you who are slightly more experienced at chess, why not try out Intermediate & Advanced Chess Workshops!
We will cover topics such as:
- How to create a plan
- How to study chess
- How to take the initiative
- The Psychology of Chess
- Analyses of high-level chess games

We're made up of a wide range of chess ability, from beginner to moderately advanced, so you are likely to find someone that you can have a good game with. You're welcome to join us whatever your skill level, and if you don't know the rules, don't worry! Any of our kind committee members and regulars can teach you: you can learn chess at any age. Be sure to check out our beginner lessons too!
Non-students are more than welcome to join too! We have members from all across Leicestershire, not just for students. Make sure to check out the Associates Membership
