Academic Rep Successes

Academic Rep Sucesses

Your Academic Reps take your feedback and work throughout the year with the university and relevant departments to make your university experience the best it can be.

We're so proud of the work they do! Here's a look at a handful of things they have acheived:

Your Feedback: PGT students in the School of Business who successfully completed resits expressed concerns that their dissertation deadline fell just days before their visa expiry. This left them unable to apply for a post-study visa. Our Response: Your Academic Reps and Executive Officers collaborated with the School of Business to adjust the dissertation deadline for affected students, ensuring they have sufficient time to apply for a post-study visa. The Chemistry Building was temporarily closed due to flooding Our Response: Reps worked closely with the School of Chemistry to implement appropriate support measures, minimising the impact on student projects during the closure. Your Feedback: Campus-based PGT students raised concerns about the lack of designated vacation periods. This limited their opportunity to rest and, due to visa restrictions, prevented them from working full-time at any point during their course. Our Response: Your Academic Reps and Executive Officers partnered with the School and the University to address this issue. A PGT Review Group was formed and confirmed that campus-based PGT students are entitled to the following breaks: Monday, 16 December 2024, to Sunday, 5 January 2025 Monday, 14 April 2025, to Sunday, 27 April 2025
