Leicester Students' Union stands wholeheartedly with any survivor of sexual violence and harassment and urges any student with information of any incident to contact the police on 101.
Following several allegations of sexual assault made on social media we are working with the University and other relevant agencies to ensure all of our students are fully supported.
Our #MeTooOnCampus campaign was launched to start a conversation at Leicester and create change to challenge the culture of sexual harassment on university campuses. While the campaign was initially based on research conducted by NUS and The 1752 Group on staff – student misconduct on a national level, it is clear from these allegations that work needs to be done to tackle these issues on an institutional level and we hope to continue to work with the University of Leicester and other universities and students’ unions in the Midlands to eradicate sexual violence on campuses.
Information for students on how to report incidents and access support is available on our support pages and details of how to get involved in the #MeTooOnCampus campaign to create change is also available at: www.leicesterunion.com/metoo
