I propose a referendum on the Union's membership of the NUS. The NUS is an “hostile environment” for Jewish students with “numerous instances” of antisemitism according to a recent report. Further, Leicester Union backed the disgraced former NUS president Shaima Dallali in her role. The NUS is unfit for purpose and does not represent the views of students. We should follow the other 16 universities since 2016 and Warwick and Oxford in recent weeks who have proposed disaffiliating from the NUS.
