How to find us
By Rail
Leicester is approximately 70 minutes direct from London (St Pancras International) by train. There are also direct rail links to Birmingham, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, East Midlands Parkway (for East Midlands Airport), Peterborough, Luton and Stansted Airport. North-South train services through Leicester are run by East Midlands Trains, who also manage Leicester Station; East-West services are run by Cross-Country Trains.
Leicester Railway Station is within walking distance of the University (15 minutes). Turn left onto London Road, then right onto De Montfort Street. Turn left and walk until you reach the intersection with University Road. Cross the pedestrian crossing, turn right and continue up to Entrance 2, Mayor's Walk, which is on your left. The Students’ Union is located in the Percy Gee Building immediately to your right.
The No. 80 bus also stops directly outside the Railway Station and runs to the University every 20 mins during term time.
By foot/cycle
From the train station walk south down the A6 London Road, cross at any of the traffic lights and turn right onto University Rd, Percy Gee is the first building you see on the main campus. Cycle lanes make this process adequate for cyclists as well.
By bus or taxi
National Express coaches (and the X7 bus) stop at St Margaret's Bus Station, which is on the other side of the city from the University. The no.48 bus, operated by Arriva, leaves St Margaret's every 15 minutes and takes about 10 minutes to reach the University. (NB. The return journey is the no.47.) The no.80 bus, also Arriva, leaves St Margaret's every 30 minutes and continues past the University to the Halls of Residence in Oadby. Alternatively there is a taxi rank outside St Margaret's.
Route and timetables:
Arriva no.47/48 bus
Arriva no.80/80A bus
Arriva no.126 bus
Arriva no.127 bus
Stagecoach no.X7 bus
