There may be times during your time as a member of the students' union when you wish to make a complaint.
If something has gone wrong or you aren't happy with the union or its services then you're entitled to make a complaint. We'd always ask that you let us know informally first to see if there is anything we can do to resolve or remedy the problem.
Below you will find the information about how to raise a complaint and in which circumstances we'll use which process.
- Student on student complaints (where it comes under SU jurisdiction)
- Complaints about union services, facilities, staff or officers
This process can be applied when a student leader or Society and/or Sports Club member displays inappropriate behaviour and/or acts outside the conduct of their role within an affiliated Students’ Union activity or setting.
Details of the process and decision matrix for this type of complaint can be found HERE. Please email su-complaints@le.ac.uk to lodge your complaint.
This process can be applied to behaviour ranging from minor harm to the point of breaching University of Leicester Senate Regulation 11. Where the latter is reached, or the behaviour concerned is not within SU jurisdiction the complaint/disclosure is beyond the scope of this process and will be guided to the university complaints proceedure
This procedure should be followed for complaints about an experience of a Union service, the conduct or behaviour of a Union employee, elected Officer Trustee (or other paid representatives of the union) or an issue related to the Data Protection Act 2018. The Students’ Union will accept complaints under this procedure from a student member, a member of University staff or member of the general public. Our complaints policy can be found HERE
